Mr. M. Jan Akre is an attorney and owner of the oldest law firm in Southern California. Over the years he has been a partner in the Banking and Corporate practice at two national law firms, the managing partner of a regional law firm and has worked in the law department of a national bank in Los Angeles, advising the commercial and trust departments.
Mr. Akre serves as general counsel to a range of families, assisting them with business and professional matters, including the formation and operation of their businesses, management of real estate, corporate and financial assets, and the transfer of wealth through estate planning. His probate experience includes conservatorships and will contests.
Mr. Akre graduated with a degree in English from Loyola Marymount University. He was commissioned into the United States Marine Corps upon graduation, served a tour of duty overseas and completed his service with the rank of Captain. Mr. Akre received his legal education at Boston College Law School, where he was Managing Editor of the Law Review, and the Harvard Law School (Center for Far East Studies).
As the Chairman of the Planned Giving Advisory Board for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Mr. Akre offers insight, leadership and guidance on a variety of issues in Estate Planning.
