With the presumption of participants’ recognition and practice of fundraising as a ministry within the Catholic Church, and the role of fundraiser as an honorable vocation, the presenter hopes to challenge those in the field of Development to a broader, richer, and more inclusive vision of philanthopos. A broad and inclusive vision of philanthropy can be sourced in the Catholic concept of Integral Human Development, informed by the Church’s tradition of humanistic and social teaching, and made concrete with a view toward the global implementation of Sustainable Development Goals.
At the heart of this vision, is an awareness and call to each one of us, individually and collectively, to a greater good and selfless service, a “love for humanity” (preserved in the parable of the “talents” in the gospel of Matthew). Essentially, all organizational missions and all types of service to those missions are part of an integrated philanthropic approach.

Objectives
1. To introduce concepts and language so that each fundraiser may be better able to recognize and articulate her/his organization’s mission and service in terms of a broad view of philanthropy
2. To highlight the connection between this broader view with the language and principles of Integral Human Development, the Catholic humanistic and social teachings tradition, and the globally-recognized Sustainable Development Goals
